Documents primarily from the Court of Common Pleas but also the Courts of Oyer and Terminer and General Sessions including accounts, affidavits, petitions, bonds, writs, judgments, declarations, depositions, indictments, minutes, orders of court, pleas, warrants, licenses (especially tavern licenses), contracts, and dockets. There are also some road records and letters. Subjects include assaults, robberies, bastardy cases, bankruptcies, debts, land transactions, estate matters, rapes and abductions, murders, and naturalization cases. Also includes papers from a case involving loyalty during the Revolution; a letter from Lt. Governor George Clarke forbidding all Negro meetings, 1741; and papers concerning Quakers.
